The answer to  research question

I plan to answer research question by using techniques that are African influenced techniques such as punching, form folding, forging. I want to explore using different types of metals such as silver, brass, copper. I also want to explore with colour in my jewellery by using different types of metals i will get variety of colour and by using  texture on my metal it will give it a nice feel.

Contemporary jewellery

Eric Loubser is inspired by the cute and pop genres in art and design. He works in precious and semi precious stone but also incorporate man made material such as enamel paint, pratteys putty, found objects etc his work is not meant to be taken "seriously" in a sense of of academic insight or deeper meaning,he does not try to create work that solely rely on its concept,it is mostly made to be enjoyed by bigger and more diverse audience,it is thre so that the viewer can make up his/her mind about the piece, it is is more what it will mean to them personally.

Design process

As i have used circus tents as my inspiration especially the top view, i took the circles that the tents makes when looking it from the top view and the different strips the tents has. then incorporated all those elements into my design process. most of my designing was done using Rhino drawing.

tents

I took circus tents as my inspiration because of the colour, strips and form. when you look at the colour of a circus tents they are very bright colours you will never see a dull circus tent that is what got me attracted and the layering of the different round forms and the pattern the strips makes.

Fictional character

My story is based on a Red Indian warrior from the red Indians nation in America. The name of this warrior is Tolo, He is one of the greatest of warriors that has graced this earth, you could rely on him whenever you went to battle, he never back down on any challenge put upon his shoulders.
During the times of the wild wild west with the cowboys he was one warrior that the red Indians nation could put their hopes on whenever their went to battle they would come back victorious. He was well built on body physic he was tall, strong and very powerful. He was every general’s dream solider when going to battle.
When going to battle he was always on the frontline among the best warriors, as a warrior on the frontline one has to wear protective armour to enhance his survival chances. Tolo wore a protective breastplate to protect him when going into battle.
This breastplate was original made out of small animal’s bones and sew together with animal skin and beads. Every warrior would design and make his own breastplate the way he would like and the way he would suit him.
These breastplates were very strong armour because even a bullet would not go through this protective armour, so it was very ideal one to wear this breastplate whenever you called upon battle.
The Indians believed the breastplate was spiritual linked to their gods   and they believed that the gods would help them whenever they went to battle.
The breastplate was not only worn when going to battle it was also worn during rituals and big ceremonies the warriors would wear them when dancing.

These breastplate was a very valuable item among the Indians nation so it was important that every warrior would wear one.
